IEP generators are tools that I am very familiar with. Since I'm a special education teacher I use IEP generators almost everyday. The type that my school system uses is TieNet. On TieNet I can not only write the IEP but generate notices of proposed meetings to go home, assessment documents and outcome forms. TieNet also keeps track of our IEP due dates. That way it makes it very difficult for us to miss an annual review date.
Wed page design software is something that I would like to become more familiar with. This year our school required every teacher to design their own webpage. It was a great idea but most of us did not know where to start. I would love to take a training on how to design a webpage for my classroom. The one I designed is very, very basic. I have a homepage that welcomes everyone to my website. A page that introduces myself and my two paraprofessionals and a page that has links to educational websites.
Another tool I would like to be able to use more is an Interactive White Board. I have a Prometheam Board in my classroom but I never use it. The reason I never use it is because I teach 3 year olds and the board is hung too high for them to interact with it. When I was student teaching at a school in Auburn, their PreK classrooms had their White Boards hung close to the ground. This enabled the students to interact with it everyday. They used it for calendar time, counting, music and interactive games.
My husband is a teacher as well and has used the IEP generators on a regular basis. The interactive white board materials are great in the classroom! Great post!
ReplyDeleteTieNet seems like one of the better IEP generators, although I'm not familar with many different kinds. I hate that your interactive whiteboard isn't accessible to your students. They would love calendar time, games, etc. I have never used the Promethean Board. During my student teaching in Alabama, their classrooms had the SMARTBoard which I became very familiar with. Here, at the Atlanta Speech School, we use the Mimeo. It's similiar to the SMARTBoard in many ways, but I'm sure they all are.
