Week 2: Should Students Play Games in School?

I believe playing games in school can be extremely successful if used correctly.  When playing games at school, it is almost like a fun break for the kids.  Many students get bored easily with the everyday school routine.  When playing educational games, it can make learning fun!  The students are more likely to pay attention if they are interested in what is going on.  Computer games can be an excellent educational resource.  I am a special education teacher and I can use educational computer games to reward most of my students.  Every student I have are eager to get on the computer.  When I use it as a reward they are encouraged to work hard and their reward can help improve a skill that they are learning.  This makes playing games in my classroom a win-win situation for myself and the students!

  1. Hello Jennie! I agree with allowing students to play games in school. It is a motivational tool in getting the students' interested in learning. Also, games allow students opportunities for problem-solving and participation. Good luck to you!

  2. I also use iPAD time as a reward for classroom behavior. It is less expensive than keeping a treasure box and the students enjoy it more. Now I just use my money to buy new educational apps for the students.
